Willie and Elaine Oliver are directors of the Department of Family Ministries for the General Conference of the Seventh-day Adventist Church World Headquarters since June 2010.
Elaine Oliver is a licensed clinical professional counselor and a certified family life educator (CFLE) by the National Council on Family Relations. She holds Masters degrees in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Counseling Psychology, and Higher and Adult Education and a BS in business administration and accounting. Elaine Oliver is also a PhD Candidate in Educational Psychology.
Willie Oliver is an ordained minister, pastoral counselor, family sociologist, and a certified family life educator (CFLE) by the National Council on Family Relations. He holds a Ph.D. in Sociology with concentrations in Gender and Family and Social Stratification, Masters degrees in Religion and in Sociology and a BA in Theology. He is an adjunct professor of Family Ministries at the Seventh-day Adventist Theological Seminary at Andrews University, as well as an adjunct professor of Marriage and Family at the Adventist University of Africa. Willie Oliver is the former Director of Family Ministries for the North American Division, the Atlantic Union Conference, and the Greater New York Conference. He also served as a lead pastor in New York City and currently serves as a volunteer pastor for families at his local church in Washington, DC.
The Olivers have conducted marriage conferences, retreats, relationship seminars, and leadership training conferences around the world. They are founders of From This Day Forward marriage conferences, Journey Toward Intimacy marriage conferences, and authors of the Real Family Talk column in Adventist World Online. They are editors of the annual Family Ministries Resource Book and of Adventist Families: A Pan-African Perspective. They are also authors of three books: Real Family Talk: Answers to Questions About Love, Marriage, and Sex; Hope for Today’s Families—the world missionary book for 2019 and Connected: devotional readings for an intimate marriage. The Olivers also produce and host a weekly family strengthening program on the Hope Channel called Real Family Talk with Willie and Elaine Oliver.
Willie and Elaine have been married for 39 years, they have two adult children, a son-in-law, and a grandson, and enjoy beach vacations, exotic cuisines, and spending time with family and friends.
